OK, so you’ve done your research. You have gone on line to flight school web sites, checked the ads in the flying magazines, talked with school representatives, reviewed all the data you collected, and (hopefully) come up with a list of the schools that look good to you.

Now what? How can you really find out if a flight school really does what it says it will do? Easy...just visit the school, and at Mazzei Flying Service, that means contacting Jerry.

Jerry is our Admissions Director. He is an Air Force-trained pilot who has held an ATP for something over 30 years and who flew F4 Phantoms in Europe and Southeast Asia before that. You should know these facts about Jerry so that you will understand that he is well qualified to discuss your flight training and arrange your Mazzei visit.

Your Mazzei visit can include any or all of the following:

• Tour school facilities (briefing, work/study areas, AV training, simulator, dispatch, lounge, computer/testing, etc.) to observe the Mazzei training environment in operation.

• Sit in any of the 20+ airplanes and helicopters we fly, to check out the aircraft you will train in.

• Visit the Mazzei housing units to see where you will live.

• Tour our maintenance hanger to see how the Mazzei A & P mechanics take care of the aircraft you will fly.

• Get an overview of the surrounding Clovis community for dining, entertainment, shopping, etc.

• Brief and fly-along on a regularly scheduled training flight (no cost) to see for yourself the Mazzei methods of pilot training.

• Talk freely with as many students and instructors as your time permits, to hear their thoughts on Mazzei training.

• Anything else you can think of that may help you determine if Mazzei Flying Service is where you want to train.

The Mazzei Visit & Fly-along is designed to acquaint you with the things you need to know about our school to make an informed decision on whether Mazzei training is right for you. As a commercial student you need to acquire the aviation skills and professional mindset that will assure your success in commercial aviation. If you are learning to fly for your own pleasure you will want the caliber of training that will make you a competent, confident, and safe pilot. In either case, your Mazzei visit will provide a first-hand checklist for you to determine if Mazzei provides the overall training atmosphere in which you can comfortably accomplish your aviation goal.
